How it Works: Monthly Expense Tracker
The tool is designed to keep your budgeting organized by focusing on one month at a time.
- Start Your Month: Enter the amount and an optional note for your expense. Tap Save. The tool will automatically detect the month based on the date you provide.
- Stay Focused: Once you start a month (e.g., December), the tool locks into that month. It will not allow you to save a January expense until the December data is cleared. This prevents your reports from getting messy.
- Update note: If you need to update a note, simply double-tap the note cell inside the table. Type your changes and tap away to save instantly.
- Export Your Report: At the end of the month, use the CSV, Excel, or PDF buttons to save your records to your phone or computer.
- Reset for the New Month: After downloading your report, use the Clear Data button. This wipes the browser storage, allowing you to begin tracking the next month.
Important Safety Tips
- Local Storage only: Your data is stored in your browser's "Local Storage." This means your data is private and never leaves your device.
- Don't Lose Data: Because data is stored in the browser, clearing your browser history/cache or switching devices will delete your records. Always export your data before performing these actions.
- Privacy: Since this is local, avoid entering highly sensitive info like passwords or credit card numbers. It is meant for simple personal budgeting.
